The Cantal is the most southern 'département' of the region Auvergne, and our campsite is situated in the most southern part of it, just in the corner between the provinces of the Lot and the Aveyron. This small part of France has a gentle micro-climate: hence the nickname of "Nice du Cantal" at the entrance of Maurs. The region east of the village of Maurs is called "La Châtaigneraie", due to the many chestnut trees planted in this area.

The landscape is volcanic and this shows itself in a beautifully hilly and sometimes mountainous landscape with green valleys and rippling brooks, offering you an intensive kind of stillness. Every curve of the road shows you a new panorama, taking you back to a much earlier, gentle time. For our guests we have a range of car tours and numerous walking tours available. These will lead you through this beautiful region, thankfully not yet discovered by mass-tourism.

This Kano rendstation lies in the "Aveyron", near the river "the Lot". You can choose from 2 trails, 1 of 11 KM and 1 of 22 KM. You will travel true 3 old towns (Le Port, Entraygues and Grand Frabre)

In the "Gorges de la Jordane", there is a track of wooden bridges and floating platforms. A beautiful scenery and also very attractive to have a walk with the children. http://www.gorgesdelajordanne.fr
At one hour drive from the campsite you'll find the exquisite natural setting and beautiful buildings of Rocamadour. This village is France's second-most visited site. Rocamadour, 36 miles north-northeast of Cahors and local to the Dordogne Valley, never fails to make a visual impression. But this quaint village is best known for its peerless cheesemaking, as well as the religious pilgrimages made each year by clerics and laypeople alike.http://www.rocamadour.net/

If you don't want to remain on the camping, there is a lake at a half hour drive from the camping. There is a bar, restaurant, playground and two water slides. Fantastic to spend a hot summer day!

The historic town of Conques lies in the Aveyron.
About half an hour drive from the campsite.
'Le Lioran' is the highest area of the Cantal. In the winter it's a favorite skiing spot and in the summer it's known for its beautiful setting. You will find an adventure-park, a 'bob-rail', and you can also visit the peak of the "Plomb du Cantal", on 1800 m. hight.
